Love this little pot!,
I read the review of this product and thought, this is just what I want, even though the other review was so negative. Well, it showed up in delivery yesterday and it is just what I was looking for.. it’s a sturdy little pot and heats the water very quickly, and there is no plastic touching the water- stainless steel body. It has a “max” line to show where the pint marker is, but there is room for another cup or so in there. I think if you boiled it with the lid off, you would be okay, but it might not turn itself off, as it does when the lid is on and you stick to the “max” line. The cord is sturdy, and it is perfect for how I am going to use it,, in my little trailer, when I want a hot beverage and don’t want to light up the propane stove. It would also be good for people who want boiling water, not just hot water like you get with a microwave. In a pinch, one could boil an egg or heat up soup in this, as long as you do so without the lid, and are careful cleaning out the pot without submerging the base in water. I hope it is as sturdy as it looks. Looks quality, feels quality,, I love it!

Essential kettle for travel coffee,
I use this kettle every day at work and it’s a key part of my travel coffee making kit. The kettle has a suggested max of 500ml, but if you dont mind a wet desk and some hot fingers you could get 800ml. The spout is pretty decent and as far as I can tell the kettle only has 2 flaws. The first is the plastic lid. Plastic is a no-no in water kettles and although this isnt as bad as a full plastic model like the Bodum, it still gives the water an awful paint smell and taste. I used it a couple times and noticed that if I stay in the recommended 500ml water level, the splash is pretty minimal and boils 500ml in about 3.30 minutes without it. Without the lid a Aeropress fits right inside. The second bummer is the cord is fixed to the unit. Wish it was detachable or at the very least some kind of internal storage. Would help for packing, but more for pouring – the cord can get in the way if not careful. Especially in a hotel room where there rarely is a outlet where you want it and carrying boiling water with a cord dangling around isn’t fun.

Fulfills the Task,
I purchased this small kettle for two specific reasons: to make one serving of coffee using the AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker with zippered nylon tote bag and an Extra 350 Micro Filters (700 Total). I also bought it to heat up 8-ounce frozen packets of homemade bone broth and soups without using a microwave. This is for use at work, so I can’t take up much storage or prep room.
There is no hardware (bolts, coils) in the seam between the handle and the lid. You can just pop the lid right off. The unit is then an open kettle.
I filled the kettle to the max fill line (500mL/just over 16 oz)straight from the fridge door dispenser. It registered at 62 degrees F/17 degrees C. It took 2 minutes, 45 seconds to bring water to about 175 F/80 C, which is what the AeroPress instructions recommend for making coffee. To get same water to a rolling boil took almost exactly one minute more (3:45.) Your results will vary, but I’m just giving you a reference point. Although the entire volume of water doesn’t go into the Aeropress, it is precisely enough to add the water left over to fill your mug after having pressed the coffee. For my American-style coffee, anyway.
I can’t guzzle the quantity of bone broth I make before I have another opportunity to make a batch. After it’s been chilled completely, I freeze 8-ounce portions in these: Lansinoh Breast Milk Storage Bags 50-pk.. It takes the kettle approximately 2 minutes, 50 seconds to entirely melt one portion. To a rolling boil takes 3:30.
For my specific purposes, this does exactly what I need it to do.
I knocked a star: it’s a bit precarious to clean because of the attached electric cord. Hand wash only. Also, my unit has a semicircular hot spot towards the handle. Heating up a soup (not a broth) requires extra liquid so as not to burn what’s in the soup. I basically like it and am glad I bought it. Cheers!
